ABOUT US

Company 16 sets a new benchmark for repertory theatre by emphasising authenticity, depth, and fostering a collaborative environment centred on human connection. We are creating a platform where experienced artists mentor emerging talent, preserving and advancing traditional acting skills and ensuring that essential practices are passed down to future generations. This establishes a foundation for theatre that remains impactful, relevant, and rooted in artistic excellence.

Company 16’s 2025 season brings together two searing portraits of ambition, legacy, and human fragility. In a bold new staging of Strindberg’s Miss Julie, the heat of a contemporary Melbourne kitchen ignites class, power, and desire on the eve of Greek Easter. In John Logan’s Red, Mark Rothko wrestles with the meaning of art, mortality, and mentorship in a world of shifting values. Each production embodies Company 16’s core: actor-driven, craft-focused theatre that unites emerging and established artists in rigorous collaboration. This season is a celebration of intergenerational exchange, cultural inquiry, and the transformative power of story.
